Eclipse of the Desert

Limited Edition of 50 prints
Description
Joshua Tree National Park, California. In 2024 the harvest moon coincided with a lunar eclipse. However, I was unaware of this while I was getting ready to make the two hour drive to Joshua Tree. I had only planned on getting a few pictures of the sunset along with the harvest moon rising, which is why I brought my dogs with me (dogs are allowed in most national parks with strict restrictions). I parked on a pulloff on the side of the main road and set up my camera. As I was getting set up a woman was making her way to her car and asked if it was the night of the eclipse. I checked my phone and sure enough, it was. Unfortunately due to my poor planning I wasn't able to stick around to capture the full eclipse, but if you look close you can see the shadow of the Earth starting to touch the upper left side of the moon.
