Santa Monica, California.
Taken the morning after a protest turned riot over George Floyd sat a store named Wasteland. In a time that was so turbulent, this moment felt like the world had stopped. I stood on the sidewalk staring at Wasteland covered in messages of how a large part of society was feeling. With shattered store windows all around, garbage in the street yet there was an empty dumpster. A candy machine still full of goodies but certainly not where it came from. And people like me, looking, wondering, and hoping for better times to come.
