There is a section of Joshua Tree that I've stopped at many times to take photos during sunset. It's a small pull off parking lot off the main road with a large swath of land full of Joshua trees and endless views. It doesn't matter what time of the year it is, every time the sun goes down, it is one of the best places to watch the sun go down. Every once in a while mother nature decides she wants to show off and this was one of those times.
